In one class we were asked, “How much more expensive is IJ380CV3 than IJ180CV3?” We think it’s important to not only answer this question for vehicle installers but also explain the differences between the two.

First off, there is about a 30 percent higher cost for IJ380CV3 than the IJ180CV3. The reason for this is mostly because with the IJ380CV3 you don’t have to use primer 94 prior to installation.

Some other features that the IJ380CV3 has include:

    • Softer material
    • Lacks memory once installed- it doesn’t want to return to its original state once installed
    • No lifting- no re-dos, which saves time and reduces costs for installers
    • No relief cuts means that it saves time and reduces the risk of paint cutting.
    • NO PRIMER- this is one feature many installers appreciate because it cuts down of vehicle prep.

The IJ180CV3 has some updates in comparison to its previous version- v2. These updates include an air release-ability of the film and smooth appearance that the IJ180CV2 already had. This film complies with the v3 adhesive and has a good initial adhesion that will assist installers when working with rivets and curves.

Basically, each film is a great option to work with, but depending on the project the more expensive; IJ380CV3 may be the better option to take. This might be something that you take into consideration when you’re planning several installs in a short period of time.

Have you used both materials? Tell us why you would choose one over the other.
