Right now, one of my favorite trends is combining same-color materials with different finishes- like a high gloss and ultra matte black on black. This could also be jazzed up by using an abstract off-color thrown into the mix but used very sparingly, like bright yellow, neon orange, neon blue etc… creating a European, fine art finish.
Here's an example where I used three different films, of different colors, for a mixed finish wrap. You see 1080 Carbon Fiber, 1080 Brushed Aluminum and 7725 Cast White for the pinstripe.
1080 film from 3M is still at the top of my list. Brushed metal textured, conformable films and matte finish films will continue to lead the ‘consumer customization,” trend in the immediate future- I believe.
On the flip-side, you will still have those commercial advertisement, full-body wrap requests with the crazy design schemes that we have seen explode these last few years here in the states. You can get a little more creative with some of these designs by mixing the films and experimenting with the effects.
Just recently, Lowen Certified participated in a local hot rod show where we had several people come up and conceptualize one of these designs for their project cars. Paint jobs would be too expensive to try it out, but vinyl is cost effective and they can have it easily removed in the future.
Bottom-line is, start mixing the films to see what you can create. 3M has consistently come out with a product line that allows you to create new looks and start new trends. What wrap trends are you starting?
